Yep. I heard about this. SWBF2 is going to die sometime in May...sucks for us, I guess. But a few people are working on patches that will allow the game to be played without GameSpy. I may end up working on one of those teams (these are all SWBF2 fans, not professionals).

Now only am I sad about Star Wars Battlefront 2, but Civilization IV (tied as my favorite game with BF2) is also getting shut down... fuck... me.

And repcom is going offline, too...we might be able to play LAN servers though. Food for thought.

To be honest it'll kind of be useless to support BF2 if it shuts down.

Lets just hope that we can find a way to keep playing this great game online.

Problem is...I only play bf2 and repcom...both are gonna get shutdown

I actually did my research.

This happened almost two years ago, and happened. Chances are the second worst thing that will happen is that stats won't be able to be recorded on gametracker.com, the worst being the shutdown of online multiplayer.

You can play without a gamespy, just so you know.

Curse the people who chose to do this...inhumane act...

Xeno, Disney does not own the rights to the multiplayer...

GameSpy is a company that hosts servers 'n shit that [many, many, many (GREAT)] games use for multiplayer. They are shutting down, along with SWBF2's multiplayer.

Disney had nothing to do with it.

Someone needs to buy GameSpy and let all the games continue I can share my whole whoppin $10 to help someone

And besides, me and some other dudes are trying to work out a way to play swbf2 withoutyou gamespy (using a different host other than gamespy). We may yet prevail.

I just realized that I never log into GameSpy to play swbf2 I just skip the logging in part and I still play perfectly so I believe the worst that can happen is nothing can be posted on game tracker but idk that's just my idea it could be like swbf1
