looking for a new pc

So I've decided my computer needs to be upgraded and I need some guidance because I don't know crap about hardware.... My budget is $300ish, I don't need anything too crazy but I'd like to be able to play some newer games. Basically looking to buy one from best buy, staples, etc.

You're gonna need quite a bit more than $300 for a new computer that is able to play (newish) games with acceptable performance.

Then again... I also know nothing about computers...

I'm also willing to upgrade some hardware, in time. Just need someone to point me in the right direction.

My computer is from 2004 so anything would probably be better... I can only run swbf2 if I turn off most of the effects lmao

Well, I import all of my computers from India. They're cheap and run relatively well.    You probably can't do that though. I just recommend running around places like TigerDirect.com (place or store) or Staples, and finding one that You like. Look into it online, and if it pleases you, buy it. If you are looking into actually building one, tell me, and I'll post some good parts.

Is it a XP, Vista or 7? I hear 8 is terrible, and Vista had many problems, XP is too old.

I feel its better for tablets, not gaming pcs, and yes, just uninstall 8 and boot from the 7 disc
